Hexxabotics Cells storage totes for a robotic automated storage and retrieval system

Cells

The right container for every storage requirement.

Every tote has a purpose.
Every location has an identity.

The Hexxabotics system uses standardised storage totes designed for robotic handling within the Hive. Each tote has a unique identification number, linking the physical container to its recorded storage location. Different sizes, material options and internal configurations help accommodate different inventory profiles.

Together, these characteristics provide a consistent container format for automated storage, retrieval and fulfilment.

TOTE IDENTIFICATION

Every tote identified. Every location recorded.

Each tote is assigned a unique identification number, represented by a physical label and recorded within the Hexxabotics system.
This allows the system to associate individual containers with their storage locations and manage retrieval requests using an identifiable handling unit.

For warehouse operators, container identification provides a foundation for controlled inventory movement and integration with warehouse management processes.

Knowing which container is being moved, and where it is stored, supports more structured inventory handling. Item-level inventory accuracy also depends on connected software and operational processes.

CONTAINER CONSTRUCTION

Built for repeated automated handling.

In an automated storage system, containers are handled repeatedly throughout their service life. Material selection and structural design therefore matter for reliable interaction with robotic equipment.

The proposed Hexxabotics tote range includes HDPE, PP-C and anti-static PP-ESD material options, according to the product specification.

Material choice should be matched to the stored goods, required loads, handling conditions and any relevant application-specific requirements.

A suitable container specification can support long-term serviceability and reduce unnecessary replacements. Expected service life should be evaluated against actual loads, handling cycles and operating conditions.

FLEXIBLE STORAGE CONFIGURATION

Match the container to your inventory.

Not every SKU requires the same amount of storage space. Container selection should reflect product dimensions, quantities, handling requirements and the intended picking process.

The proposed range includes three tote sizes, with movable dividers available to create smaller compartments within a container.
This allows storage configurations to be considered for different item profiles, including arrangements where multiple products share a tote, subject to the inventory management and picking process.

Selecting appropriate container formats helps balance usable storage capacity, product organisation and handling requirements without treating every item as if it needs the same space.

The proposed tote specification assigns each container a unique identification number, recorded in the Hexxabotics system and repeated on a physical tote label. The system uses this identity to associate the container with its recorded storage location. The exact scanning or identification technology should be confirmed before publication.

A tote ID identifies the container and supports recording its position and movements. Item-level traceability additionally depends on inventory data, the rules for associating SKUs with totes, and the interfaces to the warehouse management or inventory system. The physical label alone does not verify the contents of the tote.

The supplied product concept identifies HDPE, PP-C and anti-static PP-ESD as material options. Selection depends on the stored products and application requirements. Any ESD, hygiene, chemical-resistance or other compliance claim must be supported by the validated specification of the selected container.

The supplied design describes three tote sizes. The exact external and internal dimensions, maximum permissible load and handling constraints need confirmation against the approved product range. These specifications determine which SKUs and quantities can be stored in each format.

Movable dividers can divide a tote into smaller compartments. Using those compartments for different SKUs is possible only when the inventory management and picking processes support the necessary segregation, identification and quantity control. The divider arrangement must also remain compatible with the intended loads and robotic handling.

Selection should consider product dimensions, weight, quantity per container, required segregation, storage and picking frequency, and any environmental or regulatory requirements. The appropriate format is confirmed through application engineering rather than assuming a single tote is suitable for every product.

Damaged containers should be identified and handled according to the approved maintenance and inventory-control process. Any replacement must remain compatible with the robotic handling system, and the replacement tote identity and associated inventory records must be managed correctly. Specific replacement and quarantine workflows require confirmation.

Hexxabots retrieve and transport totes between the Hive and connected processes, such as Goods-to-Person workstations. The tote format, workstation handover, container identification and information exchange must be compatible with the overall integration design. The exact handover arrangement is defined for each application.
